In High School options we have been exploring the power of the shared meal. What better way to nourish ourselves, friends and communities than through a nutritious homecooked meal. We have worked in groups of 5 to plan a series of meals for 6 people that cost under $20, with one portion being a gift to someone who may need a little nourishment.
It has been chaotic (cooking with 20 teens anyone?!), fun and (mostly) delicious. Highlight affordable and nourishing recipes include tacos, stir fry, ramen soup, minestrone, vegetable curry and baked potatoes with beans. We are planning to end the term with a shared pizza lunch for High School, with something sweet for dessert. Hopefully, they are taking their newly acquired recipes and skills home to cook for families!
