Class 5-6 Excursion to Parliament House

Class 5-6 visited the NSW Parliament, where we role played the passing and amending of a bill through both houses. The children put their practiced debating skills to the test.

In a couple of weeks, we are off to Canberra where we will get to see our federal pollies in action. Of course, democracy is far more than parliamentary process, and during this lesson block, we have looked at so many inspiring people who have changed the course of history – coming out of prison to become president; being pivotal in the formation of the United Nations and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; suffragettes; an endless list. So many influences that have laid the foundation for so many things that we take for granted.
