Stand up Against Racism!

The international anti-racism day is to protest against racism. We use this day to educate ourselves and others and to start conversations about racism.

We did a survey of our High School, we asked: “Have you ever seen or experienced racism.” About 95% of the High School said they had either experienced or witnessed racism.

We were then asked, “Do you confidently know what to do if you witness or experience racism.” About 60% said no. We were then asked, “Have you ever stood up against racism?” About 90% of people said, yes.

This tells us that a lot of people may not know what to do, but they have tried to do something. Even a little thing, like not laughing at a joke or saying, that’s not ok. The survey showed us that a day like this is useful for educating people and building confidence so that we can keep fighting racism.
