From the road…Geography on the Road Trip Class 7 – 8

When a caterpillar goes into its cocoon to become a butterfly it dissolves into what are known as imaginal cells. I’ve always loved this idea. Kind of like it has dissolved into a deep state of transformative imagination.

For me, imagination is creativity and possibility. As it is said, we can only change if we can imagine our way toward what we want to be. It is a power state of possibility!

Here on the road, we feel like we are in the cocoon, transforming our sense of self, our relationship to others, our connection to country. We slow down and it feels like something else is made space for- the imaginal- creativity, possibility, curiosity, wonder.

We have swum and surfed wild oceans, jumped creeks, abseiled borders, gone into the crystalline womb of the earth, bathed in thermal waters, watched the eclipse.

We have argued, laughed uncontrollably, put others before ourselves, worked hard.

We have survived ticks, sunburn, the rain!

This week, don’t be surprised if you find yourself surrounded by winged beings. It will just be class 7-8 back from geography on the road.
