{"id":13667,"date":"2024-08-28T12:52:06","date_gmt":"2024-08-28T01:52:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/khpost.test.pallasmarketing.com\/?p=13667"},"modified":"2024-08-28T12:52:06","modified_gmt":"2024-08-28T01:52:06","slug":"hanging-with-the-swamp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/khpost.test.pallasmarketing.com\/?p=13667","title":{"rendered":"Hanging With the Swamp"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This term class 8 &#8211; 10, as part of an environmental management investigation, are hanging with the swamp at Wentworth Falls.<br>\u00a0<br>Here are some of our most astounding findings so far:<br>Hanging swamps are unique ecosystems found in very few places, including the Blue Mountains.<br>The hanging swamp at Wenty is 20,000 years old.<br>The Swamp at Wenty holds 10 x the water that you can see in the lake.<br>Swamps only make up 4% of soils but hold 1\/3 of soil carbon.<br><br>We are heading out weekly to collect data, observe the biodiversity and to understand the ecological importance of the hanging swamp.<br>\u00a0<br>Hopefully by the end, we will love the swamp and will be ready to teach others how to as well!<br>\u00a0<br><strong>Are you interested in hanging with the swamp?<\/strong><br><br>The Wentworth Falls Lake Bushcare group works to conserve and restore bushland and swamps around the Lake. Work includes a combination of strategic weed control, check dams and planting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Meeting day for new members:<\/strong>\u00a0Third Saturday of the month, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm.<br><br><strong>Second meeting day:<\/strong>\u00a0Second Tuesday of the month, 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm. Persons under 16 years must be accompanied by a parent\/guardian.
